“The Boondock Saints: Origins” Is Coming to the Small Screen

While many of us are still holding hope for a third installment of The Boondock Saints, perhaps the Origins project can hold us over until then?

Writer and Director, Troy Duffy, has teamed up with Don Carmody Television to transform the cult classic franchise into a television series. This wouldn’t be the first time we have seen a movie move into the small screen – Taken, Bates Motel, Training Day, and Fargo are just a few recent examples where television shows have reinvented themselves from their big screen counterparts.

Both The Boondock Saints and The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day starred Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flannery who played the MacManus brothers. In the first film, the two Irish Catholic fraternal twins waged war against the Russian mafia in their hometown of Boston. While their second movie focused on their vengeance for a fallen friend and priest. Rumors for a third installment continues to circulate keeping fans hopeful.

Although not much is currently known about the details (casting or plot) of the upcoming TV series, Duffy stated that, “A television series is the perfect medium for storytelling inside the world of our beloved blue-collar superheroes. The brothers have always been defenders of the people, justice, fairness and the city of Boston.”

Watch David Della Rocco, who played the brothers’ wild partner in crime Rocco, announce the details of the fan campaign in the below video.
