‘Arrow’: Stephen Amell on the Oliver Queen/Black Siren Dynamic
Although we are still in the dark about who survived the Lian Yu explosion (well, at least for the majority of them) we do know one character who survived and is headed to Star City with a mean sense of vengeance; Black Siren.
This past season it was obvious that Oliver kept looking at Black Siren as if she were his chance at redemption. He felt as though he failed his Laurel, so perhaps by bringing Black Siren back into the light, he could maybe save a piece of his soul.
In an interview with TVLine, Amell discussed the return of Black Siren (Katie Cassidy), who will be stepping into a larger role in the new season. He stated that Oliver will continue to have a positive outlook on Black Siren, despite what his teammates may think:
“Oliver, ironically — and despite the fact that she allied herself with Adrian Chase — is the most hopeful one. He’s like, ‘If theres a bit of Laurel in there, I want to find it.'”
Oliver and Laurel’s relationship went through all sorts of phases before her eventual death in the Season 4 episode ‘11:59‘. Her death completely devastated Team Arrow, Oliver and Diggle most of all. The pair blamed themselves for Laurel’s murder, and each of them are still struggling to live with that to this day.
As to whether or not Black Siren will be reach redemption… we will have to keep on waiting.
Arrow returns for its sixth season on Thursday, October 12 at 9 p.m.
