The Cast of Justice League Share Their Initial Reaction to Seeing Everyone in Costume Together

During a press conference, the cast of Justice League reflected on their experience working on the film and shared their initial reaction to seeing everyone together on set and in costumes for the first time.

Producer Charles Roven started out by saying that it was epic. Thus far, there have only been a couple of films and the most that were ever onscreen at the same time was three. It takes a long time to get to the stage where the cast is on set and in costume, so to finally get to that moment, “It’s unexplicable,” said Producer Deborah Snyder. “I had chills.”

Jason Momoa (Arthur Curry/Aquaman) joked that he nerded out while on set and acted like a big kid. He describes walking around and pulling on Batman’s cape, to which Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne/Batman) replies that he was always wondering who was yanking on his cape. To Momoa, it’s surreal to be playing Aquaman alongside the other cast members. He says that the audience will feel the same way once they see them all onscreen.

Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman) agrees upon the use of surreal to describe the experience.

“I remember coming to set and seeing everyone in their costumes and I was just observing everything and then I just started to laugh to myself and I was like, ‘This is surreal and crazy.'”

Affleck says that it was really cool and inspiring to see everyone standing around in their costumes. He adds that these types of movies rely heavily on effects and green screens so most of the time you have to use your imagination when shooting. To have these great actors dressed in these awesome suits made it all seem considerably less ridiculous.

Ezra Miller (Barry Allen/The Flash) says that looking at them all together was like looking at a frame from some of the early Justice League comics. So many of the original characters are there, except Cyborg, “‘cause he hadn’t been invented yet…” Miller then pokes fun at Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Superman), saying he hopes Superman is in the film. Ray Fisher (Victor Stone/Cyborg) responds that Superman is dead, so no, he’s not in the film.

Fisher recalled standing over Director Zack Snyder’s shoulder and watching some of the dailies. He would be geeking out watching the footage.

“I see everyone in their costumes, and there’s this one shot where we’re all together, and it’s panning, panning, panning, everything’s great, and then we get to me and I’m like, ‘Oh… we’re going to get me in post. Okay.’ It’s just amazing, and a super surreal experience.”

Cavill starts off by saying that on the days he would visit the set, “because I’m not in the movie,” he was lucky to be able to see the cast lined up together in costume. The journey to Justice League began six years ago during Man of Steel, and Cavill comments on how he never thought that it would get to this point.

“I never imagined that I’d be sitting up here with these other superheroes, and they are superheroes in the movie and superheroes in real life. And I consider it a real honor to be sitting here at the end of this line. Thank you guys.”

Justice League opens in theaters November 17.
