Lennie James Sends Fans a Message from his First Day on the ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Set

Fans of The Walking Dead are still trying to process the big news we received during Sunday evening’s Talking Dead. For weeks, a crossover character between The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead has been teased, and while no one knew for sure, many believed it would be Abraham. So when the aftershow rolled around, that’s what we were expecting.

However, on Talking Dead last night, we heard the news we weren’t expecting at all. Lennie James revealed that Morgan is the character to bridge the shows. In fact, he let us know via a live feed from Texas where he was hours away from beginning his first day on set.

‘From the very first moment that the whole suggestion that Morgan would be going over to Fear The Walking Dead, the hardest part of it from then until now has been leaving TWD, leaving that cast, leaving that crew. I said my goodbyes to the cast and to the crew and I would just like to say about the crew – because us actors take the bows – that show stands or falls on the back of that crew. They’re an amazing group of people and I’m going to miss them very very very much.’

I would like to say to the fans that this incredible journey that I’ve been on, playing Morgan and being on this show is very very much down to them It’s down to them and I hope they stick with this journey because it’s their fault. I hope they come with me over to Fear The Walking Dead because I’m really looking forward to exploring Morgan in a whole different world in a different realm with different characters in a different place.’

Moments after the announcement was made public, notifications went up on social media telling fans to tune into Facebook Live at 4 pm on Monday afternoon.

So tune in we did, and what we saw was a live stream of his first day on the set of Fear The Walking Dead. While the live stream was short, he did look excited to be getting to work.

It’s me, Lennie James, coming to you live from Texas.

Thank you to all of you, all of the fans that have supported Morgan from the first season. All of you guys who kept on asking the question Where is Morgan and when is he coming back and were happy when I did come back. I have had the most amazing time on TWD as I said last night but I am really really really looking forward to my time on FTWD and I’m looking forward to seeing where we’re going to take Morgan and what can happen to him in the different elements of his story that we can tell.

The jury is still out as far as we’re concerned, but we digress. Until we see exactly how this plays out, well, we’ll just be hoping that this leads to something that both Lennie James and Morgan deserve.
