Chris Hemsworth Discusses Thor’s Eye Patch and the Trailer for ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Thor: Ragnarok was one of the best films of 2017, so it comes as no surprise that Thor is one of the characters that fans are most excited to see in Avengers: Infinity War. His storyline progressed in a way unlike we’d ever seen with him before, and Chris Hemsworth enjoyed it so much that he’d like to extend his contract as the hero.

Recently, he spoke a bit about the upcoming movie, specifically about Thor’s eye patch and the trailer for Infinity War.

About the eye patch, Hemsworth said the story behind it was really cool but trying to work with the eye patch physically on was a challenge. So much so that it turned into a CG eyepatch which worked out better in the long run.

‘It was… yeah, I remembered being… with the eyepatch, the story unrolling, ‘Yeah, cool, this is interesting.’ And then the day that we put the eyepatch on I was like, ‘This is ridiculous. The thing kept falling off, and we didn’t have the thing (eye strap). So it became a CG eye patch, which I was stoked about… But I’m happy with that trade for the wig. It has its downsides. But the upside is that it’s an hour less in hair and makeup without the wig on.’

Hemsworth also recently discussed the trailer for Infinity War and how it doesn’t give anything away at all. At first, he wasn’t sure why but Joe Russo explained to him that it doesn’t have to tell the story.

‘It doesn’t give much away, for sure, because I remember watching it going, ‘aw, it doesn’t tell people enough, and then Joe Russo was like, you don’t need to tell them anything, they want anything… Like, ‘Does it explain the story?’ It’s like, ‘it doesn’t need to.’

Honestly, Russo hit the nail on the head. We’re happy with any information at all about the film so we’ll take what we can get. Plus, we thought the trailer was incredible.

Hemsworth went on to say that the trailer really made him realize how incredible it is to be part of something so big.
‘It’s just a smorgasbord of cool s**t… I think we were all excited, watching it, just looking at each other going, ‘Oh my God, look what we’re a part of.’ You know, you’re on the grind and you’re working and on the set, it’s hard to have any perspective, and then you see the trailer and go ‘oh wow,’ this is what we’re in for.’
Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4th.
