Maisie Williams May Have Just Revealed the Month in Which ‘Game of Thrones’ Returns in 2019 – UPDATED

UPDATE: This quote is false.  It was confirmed by Maisie Williams via Twitter that the quote published recently in the UK’s Metro and mentioned in our below article was, in fact, a quote issued by her several years ago relating to the series.

It was recently confirmed by HBO that the epic final season of Game of Thrones will not air until 2019 but now series star Maisie Williams may have just let slip the month during which the show will premiere.

In an interview with the UK’s Metro, Williams said:

“We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April [2019]. That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes. There’s a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all. We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities.”

That’s right!  She said the show is due to air in April of 2019.  Though the turn around from December to April for editing and post-production is a super tight timeframe, it’s not uncommon for the series to premiere during the month of April.  In fact, six seasons in-total of Game of Thrones premiered during that month with the only exception being 2017’s season 7 which was delayed.

However, as Entertainment Weekly astutely points out, Williams’ indication that filming will wrap in December is a direct contradiction to all the other news we’ve been hearing so far.  All along, it’s been said that filming will wrap during the summer of 2018.  EW said that Peter Dinklage has been quoted as saying that they are already halfway done with filming.

Of course, HBO is neither confirming nor denying any dates in association with production or the season 8 premiere.

What do you think?  Do you think a 4-month turn around is enough time to put together these massive episodes?  Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
