‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Breaks Hearts and Box Office Records with Biggest Opening Ever

Avengers: Infinity War hit theaters on April 27th and broke more than the hearts of viewers in theaters. Estimates for the film’s opening weekend also have Infinity War breaking box office records, and major ones at that.

CBS announced the news hours ago, with numbers coming in at a global opening of an estimated $630 million. The biggest opening weekend ever. It’s important to note that China, the world’s second-largest market, hasn’t aired the film yet. It doesn’t open there until May 11th.

Domestically, the film brought in an estimated $250 million and is being hailed as the biggest opening ever. The previous record holder was Star Wars: The Force Awakens which opened at $248 million. The window there was incredibly narrow.

The NYTimes mentioned that out of 10 of the biggest domestic openings, Disney owns 9 with 6 being Marvel films.

We can’t say that we’re surprised. These heroes bring wonderful stories to the big screen and do so with heart and charisma. It’s hard to watch one Marvel film without wanting to know more about the others. It’s hard then not to fall in love with all of them.
