Amazon Drops New Trailer for ‘Jack Ryan’ Series

It’s been a few years since John Krasinski graced the small screen, but come August 31st fans will be treated to Krasinski’s next leading role when Jack Ryan drops on Amazon. Adapted from Tom Clancy’s best-selling book series, Jack Ryan stars Krasinski as Jack Ryan, up-and-coming CIA analyst heading on his first assignment to stop “a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.”

Amongst a slew of action-heavy scenes, the new trailer features three voiceovers of Presidents, further confirming how vital American politics will play into Ryan’s story.

“There should be no fear, we will not fail.” —Donald Trump

“We stand today on the edge of a new frontier.” —John F. Kennedy

Ryan has appeared in big-screen adaptions multiple times with actors such as Alec Baldwin and Chris Pine putting their own spin on the role, but what’s different about Amazon’s version though is that it’s looking at an earlier chapter of Ryan’s career that hasn’t really been explored yet.

[row]“It’s sort of a prequel to the versions of him that you meet in the movies and books, the critical moment where he goes from being an analyst to being an operative in the CIA,” series co-creator Carlton Cuse (Lost) told EW.[/row]

Amazon feels so good about the series that they have already renewed it for a second season.

[row]“With so much early anticipation for Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan from our customers and personally having the pleasure to preview the exhilarating, action-packed first season, we are excited to greenlight a second season of the series months ahead of its debut. The new season will take our unexpected hero to a new, exciting and dangerous world,” said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios.[/row]

The series also stars Wendell Pierce, Abbie Cornish, and Ali Suliman and was co-created by Cuse and Graham Roland. The first eight-episode season will be available for Prime members on August 31st!
