Vera Farmiga & More Join Netflix Miniseries ‘Central Park Five’

She may have officially checked out of her role on Bates Motel, but Vera Farmiga has already found her next project. Farmiga has officially joined Ava DuVernay’s Central Park Five, a four-episode, scripted series set to premiere on Netflix. In addition to Farmiga, Central Park Five aslo cast Michael K. Williams (The Wire) and John Leguizamo (Bloodline) for starring roles.

Central Park Five follows the 1989 court case of five Harlem teenagers named Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Antron McCray, Korey Wise and Raymond Santana who were accused of raping a female jogger in Central Park. Spanning from 1989 to 2004, the miniseries will dive into the case from the first time the teens were questioned to a settlement. The prosecution was led by Manhattan assistant district attorney Elizabeth Lederer, who Farmiga will be playing.  Williams will play Antron’s father, Bobby McCray and Leguizamo will portray Raymond Santana Sr., Raymond’s dad.

DuVernay, who has directed films such as Selma13th and A Wrinkle in Time will write and direct the series that is expected to hit Netflix in 2019.

Best known for her role as Norma Bates on Bates Motel, a role she brilliantly played for four years, Farmiga has recently appeared in The Conjuring 2, The Commuter and Amazon’s anthology series Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams. Michael Kenneth Williams was last seen in 2018’s Superfly and has been recurring on Sundance’s Hap and Leonard for 18 episodes and  Leguizamo’s appeared in Waco.
