‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ Gets Spooky Season 1 Premiere Date

Are you ready, witches? We may have to wait until next summer for the new season of Stranger Things but Netflix has a fantastic alternative. While discussing their current and upcoming projects at their Television Critics Association panel, Netflix announced that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will be dropping its first 10-episode season on October 26th – just in time for Halloween!

An October premiere is the perfect time for CAOS to hit airwaves as it puts a darker twist on the iconic teenage witch and follows Sabrina Spellman (Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipka) as she struggles to balance being both a half-witch/half-human to protect the ones she loves from the dangers lurking in her town of Glendale. The supernatural series will be the perfect Halloween binge and we absolutely can’t wait. Now, we just need a trailer!

[row]“After I read the script, I became immediately obsessed with the role, with how Sabrina is portrayed and how badass the whole thing is. It’s going to be really dark and really cool, and have this very like macabre take on everything. I’m really pumped to be a witch. Who wouldn’t be?” I mean, I love The Crucible, and I love kind of the like dark Rosemary’s Baby vibe of things, and this is the direction that it’s going to go, which is really fun,” Shipka told  ComicBook.com earlier this year. [/row]

In addition to Shipka, the series will also star Ross Lynch as Harvey Finkle, Lucy Davis as Aunt Hilda, Miranda Otto as Aunt Zelda, Jaz Sinclair as Sabrina’s friend Rosalind Walker, and Tati Gabrielle as her rival Prudence. Always one to provide us with the goods, series showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shared a sneak peek of Sabrina and Harvey looking super adorable walking hand in hand earlier this year.

Set in the same universe as Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was initially meant to air on The CW, but it was found to be a better fit for Netflix who went on to order two 10-episode seasons. Netflix didn’t announce anything about when the second season would air, but the cast and crew have been filming them back to back in Vancouver throughout the year.

Hopefully, we get a full trailer for the series soon, but at least now we know that we won’t have to wait until next year to head to Greendale with Sabrina & Co! Are you excited for the new series? Let us know!
