‘Mayans MC’ Ratings Nearly Identical to ‘Sons of Anarchy’ in 2008

While a lot of people were excited for the premiere of Mayans MC, no one was more ready to head back into the dramatic world of motorcycle clubs than Sons of Anarchy fans and it looks like they all showed up on Monday for its series premiere!

According to The Hollywood Reporterthe Mayans MC series premiere brought in 2.53 million viewers with a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Funny enough, when Sons of Anarchy premiered in 2008 it brought in 2.53 million viewers except it had a 1.2 in the 18-49 demo rating. By the end of Sons’ eight-season run, the Charlie Hunnam series was bringing in over 4 million viewers weekly. Now, the numbers for Mayans are more than likely to grow substantially over the next week with delayed viewing numbers.

In another nod to its predecessor, Mayans MC’s September 4th debut was one day after the ten year anniversary of the Sons of Anarchy premiere. The spinoff was also a win for FX, giving the network its best premiere ratings since 2017’s American Horror Story: Cult, which premiered to 3.93 million viewers.

Mayans MC takes places a few years after the series finale of Sons and focuses on the Mayans MC charter on the California/Mexico border. It follows a young prospect named EZ Reyes, who is fresh out of prison for killing a cop eight years prior. Not only is EZ carrying some heavy secrets from his days in Stockton, but the club finds themselves heavily involved with the Cartel.

Once again created by Kurt Sutter, Mayans MC stars JD Pardo, Sarah Bolger, Clayton Cardenas, Danny Pino, Michael Irby, and Emilio Rivera.

Be sure to keep watching Mayans Tuesdays at 10:00 pm EST on FX!
