What to Expect from ‘The Good Doctor’ Season 2 Episode ‘Tough Titmouse’

The following article is spoiler free! Read on and enjoy.

Monday night’s new episode of The Good Doctor titled Tough Titmouse will have fans talking both during and well after the episode airs. With what could be one of the most emotional episodes of the season, here’s a little insight as to what viewers can look forward to seeing.

Richard Schiff’s Emmy-Worthy Performance:

It will come as no surprise to anyone who has seen that emotional television promo that Richard Schiff delivers an Emmy-worthy performance as Dr. Aaron Glassman in the upcoming episode. Dr. Glassman is struggling to recover after a successful surgical procedure to help eradicate his cancer. His struggles to rest and recoup cause him to hallucinate, and as we see from the previews, he begins to have conversations with his dead daughter Maddie. Dr. Glassman’s heartbreaking journey throughout this episode and Schiff’s ability to flawlessly convey every emotion felt by the character will, without a doubt, have viewers reaching for their tissues.

Graham Verchere Returns Revealing More of Shaun’s Past:

The overarching theme of Tough Titmouse is confronting one’s past. As such, we’ll see Graham Verchere return once more as Young Shaun. In the present day, Dr. Shaun Murphy’s latest medical case involves an intellectually disabled teenager and his mother who is struggling to do what’s best for her son. The mother’s dilemma causes Shaun to relive moments of his childhood which occurred shortly after the loss of his brother. It’s a nice callback to the emotional backstory that Shaun carries with him day in and day out and which, after a while, took a backseat during the first season of the series. As an audience, we’ve grown so invested in these characters that we want to know more about where they come from, and we get to peel back another layer of Shaun in this episode.

Standout Performances from Nicholas Gonzalez, Will Yun Lee and Paige Spara:

While previews for the episode focus on Dr. Glassman’s struggles, there’s still plenty else going on inside and outside of St. Bonaventure as well. Be on the lookout for a top-notch performance by Nicholas Gonzalez in this week’s new episode as well as from newly promoted series regulars Will Yun Lee and Paige Spara. The Good Doctor features several different main characters, all who need a chance in the spotlight on the series. This episode certainly gives Dr. Melenedez, Dr. Park and Lea some time to shine.
