‘Council of Dads’: Sarah Wayne Callies Family Drama is Coming to NBC This Fall
This Is Us has been a critical darling for NBC, providing the network with a beloved family drama that has proven time and time again that these are the stories audiences want to watch…and want more of. Well, look no further than Council Of Dads, a new drama starring The Walking Dead’s Sarah Wayne Callies that was just picked up to series and is expected to hit NBC this Fall!
According to the official logline, the series will follow Scott Perry, a loving father of four, whose entire life plan is thrown into upheaval by a cancer diagnosis. He and his pregnant wife Robin, call on a few of his closest allies to step in as back-up dads for every stage of his growing family’s life. They assemble a trusted group of role models that include Anthony, his oldest friend; Larry, his AA sponsor; and Oliver, his surgeon. These men agree to devote themselves to supporting and guiding Scott’s amazing family through all the triumphs and challenges life has to offer – just in case he ever can’t be there to do so himself.
Callies also confirmed the news on her personal Instagram account sharing a photo from the series. “thanks @nbc for ordering #councilofdads to series!! so in love with this ensemble, so proud of this story… can’t wait to share it with y’all… #backtowork #ourfamilytree #lovemakesafamily,” she captioned the photo.
Council of Dads will be penned by longtime Grey’s Anatomy writers Tony Phelan and Joan Rater alongside a creative team including Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, James Oh, and Bruce Feiler.

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
