‘Crash Team Racing’s WILD Launch Trailer – Battle Arenas, Boss Cinematics & More!

We are drawing ever closer to Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled‘s June 21st release date! To celebrate, Activision just released a stunning new Launch Trailer for the game that not only delivers on what we’ve come to expect – zanny characters and stunning new track designs – ; but so much more! This final trailer not only gives us our first look at Adventure Mode and Battle Arenas but also what we can expect from the newly added Boss Cinematics! As usual, I will link the trailer below; and meet me afterwards for a full breakdown – as well as some additional reveals!

More Stunning Raceways – Android Alley & Hyper Spaceway:

Right off the bat, we get some stunning footage of Android Alley – one of the Nitro Kart tracks. In the original, it was a dimly lit industrial area with a ‘yellow-brick road’ of sorts. This time around, Android Alley looks like a thriving metropolis right out of a Ratchet & Clank game! Though a better comparison – and source of inspiration – is probably the Metropolis redesign from Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage.

Though the more surprising reveal is what appears to be Hyper Spaceway. This was the final track of the Crash Nitro Kart game. And whereas we knew Nitro Kart tracks were going to be in this game, this makes me more and more curious if Emperor Velo himself will be a post game boss – as he was the final boss of Nitro Kart. Perhaps the track will be available at launch, but unlocking Velo as a racer will be later DLC.

Let the Battles Begin – Boss & Arena:

Speaking of boss battles, we also get to see an entrance cinematic for Ripper Roo! Unlike the original game where boss intros/ outros were static, here they are full-on scenes! The trailer shows off only a small segment of Ripper Roo’s intro; but we actually get to see the full footage a few weeks ago thanks to Playstation Underground – linked below. In past reveals and interviews, the Beenox team spoke about how they wanted to show the racer’s personalities. These cinematics are yet another wonderful way to let these personalities shine and make the world seem more alive!

Though whereas Boss Battles are more like unfair racer challenges, the Battle Arena is where you can really cut lose! We finally get our first trailer look at Battle Mode and what appears to be Nitro Court. Like with past courses, Nitro Court looks stunning – a vast improvement over its ‘short walls inside a castle’ PS1 design.

Overall, this launch trailer was a great way to give context for fans while still giving new content to those of us who have combed through every reveal! Again, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled releases June 21st. Are you ready to get N-Sane?
