A ‘Game of Thrones’ Reunion Special is Happening!

Fans are expecting the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones to be the epitome of epic, and it looks like things are about to get even more impressive for fans of the series.

Throughout filming, there have been rumors of past cast members revisiting the set of the series. For example, Aquaman star Jason Momoa is said to have been on set during the past year even though his character, Khal Drogo, died at the end of the very first season.

As it turns out, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that current and former cast members have filmed a reunion special to cap off the show’s final season. At this time, EW is reporting that the reunion will not be airing on HBO. Instead, it will be a part of the bonus features exclusive to the Game of Thrones complete series box set which will eventually be released (hopefully sometime in 2019 after the final season airs).

EW did not confirm which former cast members were included in the reunion other than Sean Bean who played Ned Stark on the series. Bean is actually the actor who first let slip that a reunion special was being filmed before such an event was confirmed.

In addition to the eighth and final season, HBO has announced that one of the potential Game of Thrones spinoff series received a pilot order from the network giving fans comfort that, though the original series might be coming to an end, there is still more story to be told once the final chapter of the HBO series airs.

Though an exact premiere date has not yet been announced, we know that the final season of Game of Thrones will begin airing in April 2019.
