Abigail Spencer Lands First Role After ‘Timeless’ With Hulu Drama Series

Timeless may have recently been canceled by NBC but Abigail Spencer has already lined up her next gig, and while it contains no time traveling, it’s got a bit of identity theft. The actress has signed on to a Hulu drama pilot titled  Reprisal,  which is being described as a “hyper-kinetic revenge tale following a relentless femme fatale who, after being left for dead, leads a vengeful campaign against a bombastic gang of gearheads.”

Spencer will be playing Katherine Harlow, “a woman who was left for dead but survives and takes on the new persona of Doris Dearie. After years of relative peace and quiet, Doris’ niece is taken by the same gang that tried to kill her, which prompts Doris to go on a revenge-filled rescue mission.”

Coming from A+E Studios, Reprisal will be written by StartUp’s Josh Corbin and directed by Gap Year’s Jonathan Van Tulleken. The series joins a roster of upcoming Hulu pilots including Less Than Zero, Looking for Alaskaand Catch-22, and should the pilot be picked up for series it would join Hulu staples such as The Handmaid’s Tale and Harlots.

As a triple threat in writing, acting and producing, Spencer is best known for her role as Lucy Preston on NBC’s Timeless,  which has had a cult following for the past two seasons. The Timeless fans campaigned extremely hard after the series’ cancellation, earning Timeless a two-part finale to air later this year. She has appeared on Grey’s Anatomy, Rectify, True Detective, and had a recurring role on USA’s Suits as Dana “Scottie” Scott. On the horizon is a romantic comedy called Wrong Number, which finds two people meeting on a wrong number phone call during a pivotal moment in their lives.
