Actresses Will Wear Black to Protest Sexual Harassment at the 75th Golden Globes Awards

When news broke of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assault against multiple people in the business, a floodgate was broken. Not only did more women, and men, in the industry find a platform to discuss their own sexual harassment (many having tried before) but the public was presented with an idea they could no longer ignore.

Sexual harassment happens, it’s not something that dark and harrowing novels and films are just written about. That’s why women (and some men) in Hollywood are taking a stand at one of the most publicized events of the year. All eyes, from fans to others in the entertainment industry, will be on the Golden Globes.

People reports that both male and female celebrity guests and presenters will be wearing black to the event.

While celebrities have rallied together in the past to make statements at the Golden Globes (as well as other award shows) this is a coordinated method to reach a wide audience. With the array of names presenting awards at the Golden Globes and the high profile attendees as well as award-winning hopefuls – there’s no way anyone can miss this.

EW reports that the following stars will be presenting at the Golden Globes.

‘Halle Berry, Carol Burnett, Emilia Clarke, Kelly Clarkson, Darren Criss, Penelope Cruz, Gal Gadot, Greta Gerwig, Hugh Grant, Kit Harington, Neil Patrick Harris, Chris Hemsworth, Christina Hendricks, Isabelle Huppert, Dakota Johnson, Shirley MacLaine, Ricky Martin, Sarah Jessica Parker, Amy Poehler, Edgar Ramirez, Seth Rogen, Andy Samberg, J.K. Simmons, Sharon Stone, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Alicia Vikander, Kerry Washington, and Emma Watson.’

Dwayne Johnson and his stylist, Ilaria Urbinanti, who styles many other stars, made statements on social media confirming that men will be taking part in the wearing-all-black movement as well.

‘Because everyone keeps asking me… YES, the men WILL be standing in solidarity with women on this wearing-all-black movement to protest against gender inequality at this year’s Golden Globes. At least ALL MY GUYS will be. Safe to say this may not be the right time to choose to be the odd man out here… just sayin…’

People also reports that this won’t be the only Hollywood event in which we will see the all-black attire in 2018. The Golden Globes will air on January 7th.
