Amazon’s ‘Jack Ryan’ Already Renewed For Season 2

John Krasinski is certainly having a good week! His critically acclaimed movie A Quiet Place just took back the No. 1 spot at the Box Office this past weekend and now his upcoming Amazon Original Series Jack Ryan has been given an early season 2 pickup.

We imagine that Krasinski is looking a little something like this at the moment:

Amazon said in a press release today that after their Jack Ryan ads aired during this year’s Super Bowl they saw a 400% increase in Prime members placing the series on their watchlists.

“With so much early anticipation for Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan from our customers and personally having the pleasure to preview the exhilarating, action-packed first season, we are excited to greenlight a second season of the series months ahead of its debut. The new season will take our unexpected hero to a new, exciting and dangerous world,” said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios.

The streaming giant also revealed that season 2 “confronts the forces in power in a dangerous, declining democratic regime in South America.” Season one of Jack Ryan, which will premiere this August, follows the up-and-coming CIA analyst as he’s “thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time and uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism.”

“From day one we only had one actor on our casting board for this series – John Krasinski. We are so excited that he is our Jack Ryan and we get to make another season with this incredibly talented team. We have been blown away by what our whole team has delivered for season one and we can’t wait for everyone to see it this summer,” said Amy Powell, President of Paramount Television.

The series will also star Timothy Hutton, Abbie Cornish, Wendell Pierce, and Ali Suliman. Lost and Bates Motel’s Carlton Cuse will executive produce and act as showrunner of the series alongside Fringe’s Graham Roland. Jack Ryan will be available on Amazon Prime for all members starting August 31.
