An ‘ALF’ Reboot is in Very Early Development With Warner Bros. TV

If you’re hoping to relive your childhood every time you turn on your television, you’re in luck! Yet another classic 1980s sitcom is said to be getting the reboot treatment.

On Wednesday, news broke that the classic series ALF is said to be in the very early development stages for a reboot. Warner Bros. Television is reportedly exploring the idea of bringing the series back.

ALF, whose name stands for Alien Life Form, is an alien being who hails from the planet Melmac. When he crashes his spaceship into the middle of suburban American, his ship is damaged beyond repair. Luckily for him, he crash-landed his ship into the garage of the most understanding family in the world, The Tanners. The Tanners take in their new, furry alien friend who, with his sarcastic personality and big heart, becomes part of the family, despite the fact he continuously tries to eat the family’s pet cat (a delicious delicacy on ALF’s home planet).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the rebooted series would most likely focus on a brand new family and new characters whom ALF meets upon returning to earth several years later. The project has reportedly been in the works since May of this year, however, no other additional details are known at this time.

The original ALF series ran from 1986 to 1990 and spanned a total of four seasons on NBC. The series was originally written by Tom Patchett and Paul Fusco (who was also the original puppeteer for ALF) and both are said to be attached for the reboot development. In addition to Fusco, the series also starred Max Wright as Willie Tanner, Anne Schedeen as Kate Tanner, Andrea Elson as Lynn Tanner, and Benji Gregory as Brian Tanner.
