‘Aquaman’ Spinoff In The Works

Considering Aquaman exceeded the $1 billion dollar mark, making it DC’s highest grossing movie, it is no surprise that Warner Bros. would want more.

While a sequel to the massive hit is highly likely, it appears as though the main cast will be taking some time out before gearing up again. During this break, there is talk of a spin off that will fill the void and provide an exploration of the Atlantean world and mythology.

According to THR, Warner Bros. have hired Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald to start writing a horror-esque script centered on The Trench, the monstrous sea creatures of the deep that attacked Arthur and Mera.

James Wan and Peter Safran will produce the film that is currently title The Trench.

The Trench are still fairly new to the Aquaman lore after being introduced in 2011. Originally they were part of the Kingdom of Atlantis but after the sea swallowed the Kingdom, the Trench were cut off from the other inhabitants who went and formed the other territories established in Aquaman, while the Trench regressed into the deadly creatures that dwell at the bottom of the sea.

Details of the spin off are currently unknown but with this news it is likely that more news surrounding the actual story will surface very soon.
