Ben Affleck Says ‘Justice League’ is Zack Snyder’s DNA with Joss Whedon Finishing the Journey

Justice League will be hitting theaters this weekend and we are super stoked to see the final finished film.  The film’s journey to completion has not been without some bumps and twists in the road.  One of the most impactful changes was switching from director Zack Snyder to Joss Whedon after Snyder stepped down due to personal reasons.

These two directors have completely different styles that are all their own so, how exactly did this switch impact the production of the film?  That’s exactly what film star Ben Affleck was asked during a recent Justice League press conference while promoting the film.

Affleck responded by saying, undoubtedly, “The movie is Zack’s DNA.  He cast the movie.  He designed the movie.”

So, where does Whedon fit in?  Affleck went on to explain further by saying the following:

“There’s something that people don’t understand who don’t actually work on movies which is how much of the work is done in prep. The casting, the sets get built, the story is written, the ship is, in essence, sailing. I’ve found, as a director, you can maybe change ten percent or something on the day. So you really had Zack’s ship set sail with us and we were fortunate that when Zack was unable to continue, we got really lucky in that we got a guy who’s very accomplished in his own right, particularly in this genre. And he kinda sprinkled some of his fairy dust on our movie and finished it.”

That seamless transition mid-filming is reassuring but, what happens then when you have a completely different visionary finishing up someone else’s work?  Affleck said:

“I don’t think there’s any way to go back and for me to look and go, “Oh, that’s a Joss scene. And that’s Zack’s scene.” It was more, they were both working together toward a common goal. I got the sense that Joss was working with what he had discussed with Zack before he stepped in.”

What do you think about Ben Affleck’s comments on the director switch for Justice League?  Are you excited to see the movie?  Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!
