‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Debuts on NBC With Highest Ratings in Two Years

Well, isn’t this news toit! It appears that all of those fans were ready to hold up their end of the bargain when it came to saving Brooklyn Nine-NineAfter being picked up by NBC following a sudden cancellation over at Fox, the Andy Samberg cop sitcom reached its highest ratings in two years on its new network with 3.6 million viewers. While that number wasn’t the highest of the evening for Primetime, it certainly is promising for the series seeing that it was 71 percent higher than Nine-Nine’s season 5 premiere on FOX.

Despite the network change, everything about Brooklyn Nine-Nine remaind the same. From its theme song to its writing and tone, the series didn’t skip a beat. Picking up where the season five cliffhanger left off, it was revealed that Holt did not get the commissioner job, which sends him into a small spiral at the same resort where Jake and Amy go for their Honeymoon. When the pair returns, they discover that the newly appointed Commissioner Kelly has turned the bullpen into absolute chaos.

While it’s so great to see the team back together, unfortunately, it won’t remain that way for long. Chelsea Peretti, who has played enigmatic Gina Linetti since season one, announced that she would be exiting the series at some point during season six. On the plus side, NBC gave the series six extra episodes, bringing season six to a total of 18 episodes. So, while there will be less Gina there will be more Nine-Nine antics!
