After experiencing a pretty nasty fall back in November, country music star Carrie Underwood is well on her way to recovery, however, as it turns out, the extent of her injuries may have been more severe than originally thought.
Underwood had previously told fans that she was nursing a broken wrist after a fall outside her home. Over the weekend, the singer revealed that her injuries also included several cuts and lacerations to her face requiring over 40 stitches!
“There is also another part of the story that I haven’t been ready to talk about since I have still been living it and there has been much uncertainty as to how things will end up. It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life. In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well. I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told [Underwood’s husband] Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in.”
While the full extent of her injuries is not yet known, a cut requiring over 40 stitches sure sounds pretty serious. Her injuries were enough to cause Underwood to cancel her appearance at the Country Rising benefit which took place shortly after her fall.
Despite her injuries and being on the road to recovery, Underwood is optimistic for what 2018 has in store though, she warns fans, she may look a little different when she gets back into the swing of things. She said:
“I honestly don’t know how things are going to end up but I do know this: I am grateful,” she adds. “I am grateful that it wasn’t much, much worse. And I am grateful for the people in my life that have been there every step of the way…. I am determined to make 2018 amazing and I want to share things with you along the way and when I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different.”
We wish nothing but the best for Carrie Underwood and hope she has a speedy recovery! Get well soon, Carrie!
