Riverdale is about to get a new face.
Chad Michael Murray is returning to the CW to officially join the cast of Riverdale as Edgar Evernever, the father of Evelyn Evernever.
Edgar’s official description reads “As the enigmatic leader of the cult-like Farm, Edgar arrives in Riverdale to spread his teachings and heal the ravaged soul of this once wholesome town. Edgar is a charming, handsome guru, but is he hiding a more sinister agenda?” He has helped Alice get her life together after the events of Season 2.
“There’s a very charismatic cult leader, Edgar Evernever,” Mädchen Amick revealed at New York Comic Con. “We’re not implying their romantically involved. But, he’s one of those classic cult leaders that is charming and handsome and alluring, so all the women are swooning. So there’s that element about him.”
We all know Murray as the heartthrob from One Tree Hill and Dawson’s Creek. This seems to be a theme in Riverdale when casting adults (Luke Perry, Skeet Ulrich, Mädchen Amick, and Molly Ringwald), they all became famous for their iconic teenage roles. It helps give Riverdale the nostalgic, familiar feel.
Murray will make his appearance sometime in season 3.
Riverdale airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
