Chadwick Boseman Gives the Wakanda Salute – For His Mom

Since Chadwick Boseman took on the role of T’Challa, a few things have become second nature to the star. One of which is a special stance.

Now, it goes without saying that fans think of that salute when they think of Wakanda and Boseman is the king. However, with a movie that’s been out for months, we can imagine that he may not embrace the Wakanda Forever salute with as much fervor as before.

A picture was posted alongside the release of Avengers: Infinity War of Boseman looking a little less than thrilled while doing the salute. It made it’s way around the internet and of course, became a meme. Some of our favorite comparisons (with a photo of a more lively Boseman side by side) were ‘when I get hired vs when I first get the job’ and ‘Wakanda forever vs Wakanda sometimes’.

At the MTV Movies & TV Awards, which aired Monday night, the salute was brought up when Michael B Jordan told fans that Boseman himself had asked him to end it! There was laughter, both from Jordan and Boseman, as well as the audience, and from fans at home.

One person who was really hoping for that salute, however, was Boseman’s mom. We all know we can’t go disappointing our mothers, so when she told her son that she missed the salute, he stepped his game up with a post on social media.

You can see Boseman as T’Challa in both Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.
