Chewbacca Actor Joonas Suotamo Teaches Jason Momoa How to Speak Wookiee

Let’s be honest. It takes some seriously special skills in order to produce a proper Chewbacca impression. Even the most devoted of Star Wars fans still find it difficult to get that Wookiee trill just right.

Recently, Solo: A Star Wars Story star Emilia Clarke showed us all just how difficult it can be when she attempted the most adorably terrible Chewbacca impression on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Seriously, it’s super tough to speak like Chewbacca that is, unless you ARE Chewbacca or, apparently Game of Thrones and  Aquaman star Jason Momoa.

Momoa recently hung out with Joonas Suotamo who plays Chewbacca in The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and Solo: A Star Wars Story. The two took some time together to practice their Wookiee roaring while Suotamo documented the whole thing for social media.

In the hilarious video below, Momoa attempts a Wookiee roar which ends up sounding more like a Dothraki screech instead. After Suotamo shows him how it’s done, Momoa takes another try and actually does impressively well. Check it out:

Not bad, right?

Solo: A Star Wars Story opened in theaters last weekend and, despite an underperformance so far at the box office, the film has been lovingly received by fans and viewers. The movie shows a fun and exciting look at the early days of a young Han Solo before he meets up with Luke Skywalker. Starring Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson and Paul Bettany, we get to see some of Han’s key moments like when he first meets Lando Calrissian and when he and Chewbacca first form their unbreakable bond. Personally, I think this film is a must-see for any fan of the franchise as it’s a great reminder of just how fun the Star Wars galaxy can be.

The film has been described by Lucasfilm as follows:

[row]“Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.”[/row]

If you’re looking for a movie to watch that’s just a down-right good time, make sure you check out Solo: A Star Wars Story right away!
