Chris Evans on Steve Rogers’ Evolution Since ‘Captain America: Civil War’
While most of the heroes we can expect to see in Avengers: Infinity War have been making their rounds on the recent press tour, a familiar face is missing.
Chris Evans is currently starring in Lobby Hero which means his time was spent in New York instead of traveling for this promo tour. It’s strange, to feel his absence, but it makes sense. His passion is for what’s at the center of acting, the basics of it. He’s bringing in incredible reviews which further serve as a testament to the immense talent that he is.
He was able to talk briefly to USA Today with a bit of his opinion on Steve Rogers transformation.
‘He’s such a monastic character and he has such a quotidian approach to his existence. I imagine when he wakes up in the morning, there is a routine. Part of that is in his nature, part of that is just to keep his sanity, and that all kind of goes out the window a little bit after Captain America: Civil War. You see a guy who doesn’t stop caring but just puts down some of that obligation.’
He went on to say that it’s not in Cap’s nature to just…leave it all behind. He cares too much for people and he has too much fight left within him for good.
‘I don’t think it’s in his nature to be too much of a loose cannon, but there’s a lack of formality. He’s checked all that at the door and he’s gone inside himself for a little while, and as a result, he’s a little irreverent and maybe even a little dangerous.’
In terms of dangerous, it seems to be something Steve will deal with on an internal level than being a threat. Not that we’re surprised. No matter how far away he stepped after Civil War, he’s Captain America – shield or no shield.
Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27th.
