Clive Barker’s 1990 movie Nightbreed, adapted from his short story collection Cabal published in 1988, will now be developed into a TV series for the Syfy network. Veteran horror writer Josh Stohlberg (Jigsaw, Piranha) in conjunction with Morgan Creek Entertainment (Nightbreed movie) and Universal Cable Productions will be the ones bringing forth this new ‘Breed‘.
“This story has been near to my heart for many years,” Barker said. “I’m at beyond thrilled that SyFy and UCP are taking this journey with us, and I cannot wait to see it brought to life on the screen.” – Source: Deadline
Not only will Nightbreed feed our seemingly insatiable appetite for monsters and mayhem, it also tackles the sensitive subject of race relations that plague society to this day. Mr. Barker delivers a fantastical tale that pits humans against monsters, one that reflects unfortunate truths in how we treat one another simply based on appearance. I applaud creators willing to step forward and use their unique skills to shed light on touchy topics. They offer us the opportunity to recognize fault within ourselves to hopefully ignites change.
“There has never been a more relevant time for us to turn to one of the genre’s great cult classics from our movie library to impact the national conversation with bold, compelling and unconventional storytelling”, said David Robinson, President of Morgan Creek Entertainment Group. – Source: Deadline
