‘Cobra Kai’ Strikes Again! Martin Kove Returns As A Regular For Season 2.

YouTube Red’s newly released series Cobra Kai is a hit with over 20 million first episode views since it’s release on May 4th and Season 2 is coming our way! The Karate Kid continuation reunites legendary characters Danny LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) as they look to settle some seemingly unfinished business. Fans were even given a look into Johnny’s challenging childhood throughout the 10 episode series, a look that showed sadness, a look that allowed us to understand that he was perhaps not a villain after all.

Who then is the villain? Enter Johnny’s former sensei John Kreese played by actor Martin Kove. It is Kreese that instilled the Cobra Kai values of, Strike First, Strike Hard, No Mercy into his students. It is Kreese that blamed Johnny for disgracing his dojo during his loss to Danial LaRusso at The Alley Vally Karate Championship and it is this disgrace that has haunted Johnny over the past three decades.

In the last scene of Season 1 finale, Kove’s Kreese returned to visit his former student Johnny Lawrence (Zabka), setting up a cliffhanger. The duo’s previous onscreen meeting was in the opening scene of The Karate Kid Part II, in which Kreese was choking out Johnny after he lost to Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) in the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament. The return of John Kreese as a regular in Cobra Kai Season 2 will surely shake things up. It was the during the last episode of Cobra Kai Season 1 that we actually see Johnny showing signs of regret for his harsh training techniques. He appears conflicted but we are left feeling confident that he can change his ways, that is until Kreese shows up at the Cobra Kai dojo.

What happens next? Let us know what you think as we all wait for Season 2!
