Coffee-Infused Bagels Will Put a Little More Pep in Your Step

Are you the type of person who needs caffeine in the morning but hates the taste of coffee?  Do you love carbs?  Specifically, bagels?  If you’ve answered “yes” to these questions, then you’re going to want to listen up!

Coffee-Infused Bagels Will Put a Little More Pep in Your StepCaffeinated bagels, or Espresso Buzz Bagels, exist and are sure to be the next trendy food craze!  Last week, Einstein Bros. Bagels in Lakewood, Colorado announced that they have begun making “Espresso Buzz Bagel,” a bagel that actually contains caffeine.  The buzz bagels contain about 32 milligrams of caffeine, which is only equivalent to about one third of an eight ounce cup of coffee but, the more bagels you eat, the more peppy you’ll feel!

The caffeine in the bagel comes from espresso and coffee-cherry flour.  The espresso gives the dough a deep, dark color and, so far, taste tests have yielded mixed results ranging from “sour” to “absolutely loving it!” One plus of the new concoction is the new bagel also has 13 grams of protein, derived from cocoa so, at least there’s that.

According to Fox News, “the bagel itself has just 3 grams of sugar and 2.5 grams of fat (the whole thing is 230 calories), so it’s healthier than a donut. About three hours after consumption, there were no jitters and most tasters reported feeling pleasantly alert. Though there’s no limit to how many bagels one can buy or consume at a time, Coyne contends that those with caffeine sensitivies should keep that in mind when trying the Espresso Buzz Bagel for the first time.”

So, joining the ranks of the unicorn and dragon frappuccinos and the pickle juice soda pop, what do you think of coffee-infused bagels?  Would you try one?
