Danai Gurira May Be Starring in ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’

If you’ve been hoping for some sort of Walking Dead/Stranger Things crossover you just may be in luck! Deadline reports that everyone’s favorite zombie-killing katana wielder, Danai Gurira is in talks to join the 2020 installment of the Godzilla franchise alongside Strangers Things’ Mille Bobby Brown.

In a huge cinematic crossover event, Godzilla vs. Kong will find the Gigantic Kong meeting the unstoppable Godzilla as the world watches to see which one becomes the king of all monsters. If Gurira were to get the role, she would be joining a cast that already consists of Brown, Friday Night Lights’ Kyle Chandler, and Deadpool 2’s Julian Dennison.

Godzilla vs. Kong will be the fourth installment in the Godzilla franchise following behind Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), and 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. While not expected to release until May of 2020, Godzilla vs. Kong will be directed by  Death Note’s Adam Wingard.

After playing Michonne on The Walking Dead for 6 seasons, Gurira found her breakout role on the big screen in Marvel’s record-breaking superhero film, Black Panther. She playedOkoyke leader of the Wakandan Army and later reprised her role in Avengers: Infinity War. Not only has she proven herself in the more dramatic and emotional role of The Walking Dead, but she’s bloomed into one of the most talented and sought-after action actresses as well.

Godzilla vs. Kong is expected to hit theaters on May 22, 2020.
