While you may be used to seeing him in front of the camera in comedies such as 21 Jump Street and Neighbors, Dave Franco is gearing up to step behind the camera to direct a new horror/thriller titled The Rental.

According to Deadlinethe film will feature a talented young cast including Glow’s Alison Brie, Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens, Shameless’ Jeremy Allen White, and Snowpiercer’s (2019) Sheila Vand. It’s set to follow two couples who rent a vacation home for what should be a celebratory weekend get-away…emphasis on should be. Black Bear Pictures will be financing the film and producing with Franco’s company Romana Films.

“[I] couldn’t be more excited about partnering with Black Bear and to be working with such an amazing group of actors for my directorial debut,” Franco told Deadline in a statement.

The project teams Franco up with Drinking Buddies’ Joe Swanberg who co-wrote the script with him. It also gives Franco the opportunity to finally team up with his wife (Brie). Recent acting credits for Franco include If Beale Street Could Talk, 6 Balloons and The Disaster Artist. He will soon be appearing in Zeroville alongside his brother James Franco, Will Ferrell, Seth Rogen, Danny McBride, Joey King, and Megan Fox. The film is set to follow a young actor who arrives in Hollywood in 1969 during a transitional time in the industry.
