Jim Lee will step into the role of chief creative officer position while continuing his publishing duties that he’s worked on since 2010 with partner Dan DiDio.
Last week, Diane Nelson, president of DC’s Entertainment department made her exit as well. Warner Brothers’ movie division recently made a change to its president, bringing Walter Hamada to head up DC’s superhero ventures with WB.

Geoff Johns began at DC originally by writing comics and soon his role expanded. While writing, he was promoted to chief creative officer in 2010. He helped co-develop the CW’s DC universe which includes popular series Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Black Lightning and more. He took on the role of DC Entertainment president in 2016.
He will continue to grow in his new role, which opens him up to do more with Warner Brothers.

Here is what Johns had to say on Monday:

“I took on a role at DCE because I love the characters and this universe more than anything. But, I want to spend my days writing and on set. I’m thrilled to get back to a more hands-on creative role. It’s a dream job on dream projects, reaching even deeper into DC’s vast pantheon of characters.”

He’s already working on Green Lantern Corps, based on the intergalactic Police of the DC Universe. He spent a lot of time on the Green Lantern comics in his previous role. He has a co-writing credit on Aquaman, and is writing and producing Wonder Woman 2.

Warner Brothers Pictures Group Toby Emmerich commented on the change as well,

“Geoff is a super-talented writer and truly embedded in the DC Universe and its characters. We’re thrilled that he’s returning to his passion and his roots as a writer and producer. And, it’s even better that he’s staying in our Warner Bros. family. We look forward to working with him on Green Lantern and other projects going forward.”

Johns will now be able to tell DC stories across all media platforms. He has his hand in DC Universe’s upcoming digital series Titans, and The Killing Zone, Shazam and Three Jokes on the comic side.
