Diane Lane Joins FX’s Comic Series Pilot ‘Y: The Last Man’

FX’s highly anticipated series Y: The Last Man has just signed on Academy Award nominee Diane Lane for a starring role in the pilot. The series is based on Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s comic book series of the same name.

The series “takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where a cataclysmic event has decimated every male mammal, save for one lone man named Yorick (Dunkirk‘s Barry Keoghan). Together, they’re left to navigate a society run entirely by women, through which they explore gender, race, class and survival.

Lane will be playing Jennifer Brown, “a first-term junior senator who has already made a name for herself in political circles for her willingness to put personal ideals ahead of politics.” She’s also mother to Yorick and his sister Hero (Imogen Poots).

Brotherhood’s Lashana Lynch will play “Agent 355, a Secret Service agent who performs the duties of her job with the utmost professionalism, even under the most unexpected set of circumstances”. Succession’s Juliana Canfield will play a character named Beth, a Brooklyn-based knife maker who finds something endearing about the hapless Yorick” and Sneaky Pete’s Marin Ireland will play Nora, the president’s senior assistant and right-hand woman who effortlessly balances family life with a job navigating the corridors of power.”

The series comes from Luke Cage’s Aïda Mashaka Croal and American Gods’ Michael Green and will be produced by American Crime Story’s Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson. Comic book writer Brian Vaughn will also serve as a producer.

Diane Lane will soon appear in the final season of House of Cards on Netflix where Robin Wright is now at the center after Kevin Spacey was let go following sexual misconduct allegations.
