Did You Notice That ‘Game of Thrones’ Just Reused Another Actor?

Warning: This article is dark and it is definitely full of spoilers!  DO NOT read on if you are not caught up with Season 7 of Game of Thrones!

Did You Notice That 'Game of Thrones' Just Reused Another Actor?

How closely did you watch last Sunday’s Game of Thrones episode?  Did you happen to notice that a familiar face graced the screen during the hit HBO series?  No, we’re not talking about Gendry (though it’s good to see he’s no longer rowing!).  We’re talking about fan favorite actor Kevin Eldon returning for his second role on the series!

During last Sunday’s episode, shortly after Ser Davos finds the ever-rowing Gendry, the two head to the shores of King’s Landing where they are almost caught by two Gold Cloaks.  Davos is able to fend off the guards by offering them some of his magical aphrodisiac fermented crabs but, once the guards see Tyrion, their suspicions grow. Davos, Gendry, and Tyrion are in trouble until Gendry’s quick thinking takes both guards out by clocking them over the head with a custom-made mallet.

In case you don’t remember the scene, check it out below:

Did one of those Goldcloaks look familiar?  He should because one of them is Eldon who has already appeared on the series as Camello, one of the actors in the Braavos theater.  Eldon played the actor who played Ned Stark whose comedic/parody portrayal upset Arya.

Eldon’s acting credits for Game of Thrones are all listed on IMDb under the characters Camello/Goldcloak which could mean that his character gave up acting before moving to Westeros where he became a city guard.  That’s a pretty big career move for someone in Westeros!  Most likely, however, the actor was simply reused and the folks over at HBO and Game of Thrones simply figured no one would notice.

It’s not the first time the Game of Thrones has reused an actor.  In the past, they have recast actor Dean-Charles Chapman who has appeared as both Martyn Lannister (for 2 episodes) and then at Tommen Baratheon (who met his ultimate demise after watching pretty much everyone blow up in that crazy wild fire explosion at the end of season 6).

Did you notice that Kevin Eldon had been recast as a new character?  Be sure to catch up on all the details you might have missed by checking out our episode recap for Eastwatch RIGHT HERE.

New episodes of Game of Thrones air Sunday nights at 9 pm EST on HBO.
