Dwayne Johnson Unveiled the ‘Jungle Cruise’ Set and It Looks Incredible

Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt may have kicked off production for the highly anticipated Jungle Cruise movie with a quick video of them on set and in costume, but Johnson is upping the ante with his most recent video that pays homage to Walt Disney and shows off the film’s massive set.

A super-hyped Johnson spends a few brief moments talking about just much being able to work on Jungle Cruise means to him, especially since the Disney attraction that the film is based on was a favorite of the legendary Walt Disney.

[row]”This movie has been years in the making and from the bottom of my heart I am so honored, we are all so honored, to bring this rich story and movie to life for all of you guys around the world.  In 1955, Walt Disney imagined and designed and created the very first Jungle Cruise ride, and how about this? Walt Disney himself was the very first Skipper for the very first Jungle Cruise ride,” Johnson says. “It is with great honor and reverence that I get an opportunity to play this role and we can show you guys this story. Walt, this one is for you buddy.”[/row]

As he closes the video with a resounding “And world, get ready for the adventure of a lifetime. Welcome, to Jungle Cruise!” the camera takes off into the sky to reveal an incredibly extensive and gorgeous set. The Jungle Cruise official Twitter account claimed the set was “one of the most awe-inspiring & massive sets ever built from scratch.”

Like Johnson mentioned, Jungle Cruise will revolve around the Disney attraction that first opened in Disneyland in 1955. Today, Disney parks all over the world take riders on a scenic boat tour of the most exotic and exciting rivers across Asia, Africa, and South America. Aside from Blunt and Johnson’s character names of Frank and Lily, specific details surrounding the plot are still very much under wraps, but Johnson did hint to EW that he would be playing the captain of a boat traveling down the Amazon river.

[row]“Think Indiana Jones — those kinds of adventures. I’m very, very excited about it,” he told them.[/row]

The Walking Dead star Peter Luis Zimmerman was recently cast for the filming, joining a star-studded roster including Jesse Plemons. Paul Giamatti, Edgar Ramirez, and Jack Whitehall. Logan’s Michael Green will write the script, The Shallow’s helmer Jaume Collet-Serra will direct.

Jungle Cruise hits the open waters on October 11, 2019.
