‘Elden Ring’ E3 Trailer

E3 last night revealed the title and trailer for the game collaboration between George R.R. Martin and From Software’s Hidetaka Miyazaki.

Elden Ring is the title for FromSoftware’s upcoming game that promises to be as dark and equally as mysterious as Dark Souls and Bloodborne. However, Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed that this game would focus less on the action in comparison to Sekiro, and more on building a vast mythology.

“This mythos proved to be full of interesting characters and drama along with a plethora of mystical and mysterious elements as well. It was a wonderful source of stimulus for me and the development staff”

Miyazaki also added:

“This mythos proved to be full of interesting characters and drama along with a plethora of mystical and mysterious elements as well. It was a wonderful source of stimulus for me and the development staff”

So what can players expect? Well, it’s actually difficult to judge from the trailer. Even the story itself is difficult to determine. However, as FromSoftware have continued to prove, even in this short trailer, Elden Ring will be full of interesting and monstrous beings that will absolutely punish the player to no end. The trailer itself focused mostly on the aesthetics rather than the story, but the narration is something to pay attention to:

“I doubt you could even imagine it. That which commanded the stars giving life its fullest brilliance. The Elden Ring. Oh, Elden Ring, shattered by someone or something. Don’t tell me you don’t see it. Look up at the sky. It burns.”

Confused? yeah me too.

What’s most intriguing about this new game is George R.R. Martin’s involvement. As a Game of Thrones fan, I can only recognize Martin’s ability in creating wide and immersive worlds. With the combination of Martin’s storytelling ability and the gaming mechanics that fans love from FromSoftware, we are in for an absolute treat.

What this also means is that the final 2 Game of Throne books will probably be delayed… again. While Martin has stated many times that he is working hard on the two remaining books, he has a lot lined up including five shows, potential short films, and now this new video game.

Unfortunately, the game doesn’t have a release date yet. But, since it will be available on Xbox One, PC, and PS4, it will most likely come out way before the new Xbox (Codename Project Scarlett) is released in late 2020.
