Emilia Clarke Boards ‘Han Solo’ Standalone Feature
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away … Daenerys Targaryen arrived majestically on a dragon?
Per a news update posted on the official Star Wars website, Game of Thrones starlet Emilia Clarke has joined the untitled Han Solo standalone project. Though who she’ll portray is currently unannounced she’s set to join Alden Ehrenreich, who is cast as Han Solo, and Donald Glover, who will portray Lando Calrissian. Oh, and lest we forget about a certain Wookie, who’s yet to be cast as well. (To me odds would be on Joonas Suotamo, who acts as Peter Mayhew’s Chewbacca double in the new Star Wars movies.)
Aside from Game of Thrones (which has two shortened seasons remaining to air on HBO), Clarke has recently starred in the romantic drama Me Before You but shined as Sarah Connor in Terminator Genysis. Though many can argue the latter wasn’t wholly a thrilling movie, Clarke’s ability to carry her weight in a tentpole science-fiction actioneer is proof positive she’s up to keep a certain scruffy-looking nerf herder on his toes.
The Han Solo standalone, being scripted and directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie and the Jump Street flicks), is set for a 2018 release.
Jerrold spent his childhood in southeastern Pennsylvania ingesting far too many TV shows and movies, thus creating a stark-raving mad geek. He’s a movie aficionado, binge-watches Netflix, and is a total TV junkie. His addiction has led to an unhealthy and rabid obsession of various geek pantheons – Star Trek, Star Wars, both DC *AND* Marvel,
cult 80’s and 90’s television, Supernatural, The X-Files, Doctor Who, and, and…holy overload. He’s still waiting to run away in a 1967 Impala or a blue police box.
