Facebook Watch In Talks with Cristiano Ronaldo For Soccer Reality Show

International soccer sensation Cristiano Ronaldo may soon be taking his love of the sport to a whole new level. Variety reports that the soccer superstar is in talks with Facebook Watch for a reality docu-series centered around his day-to-day life.

Facebook Watch is looking to add the series to its already existing sports lineup which currently includes Ball in the Family (a basketball-themed series) and Tom vs. Time (a Tom Brady centered series). Ronaldo’s series would reportedly be 13-episodes.

This would be Ronaldo’s second series with Facebook. In May, Facebook teamed up with Ronaldo’s newly launched studio named wiip on a scripted drama series which follows a diverse high school girls soccer team located in Upstate New York.

At this time, it’s unclear exactly how far along Ronaldo and Facebook are with their negotiations, however, if a deal is reached, this would be a huge win for Facebook Watch. As Variety notes, Ronaldo’s official Facebook page has over 120 million followers making him the most popular athlete on the social media site. He is well-known internationally by fans of soccer as well as non-fans.

One of the most recognizable celebrities in sports, Ronaldo is a forward for Spanish pro team Real Madrid as well as the national Portugal team. Sadly, Portugal was eliminated last week from the World Cup 2018 tournament which is currently still ongoing.

A docu-series, such as the one in question centering around Ronaldo, could be a huge success on the Facebook Watch platform. Soccer is a widely popular sport in many countries throughout the world. A series, such as this one, could give Facebook Watch a real global edge over other competitors.
