Gina Rodriguez is Bringing a Female-Driven Drama to The CW
Gina Rodriguez is one of The CW’s best assets. Not only does she star in one of their most critically acclaimed shows, Jane the Virgin, but she also gave the network their first Golden Globe for her performance back in 2015 and is a beautiful activist and role model for diversity and feminism. Clearly, they are well aware of this because they’re giving Rodriguez’s production company I Can and I Will the opportunity to bring all of those things we love about her to the small screen.
Rodriguez and Emily Gipson are developing a series for The CW called Femme, that will follow four millennial women who form a connection after meeting in a secret online feminist group and decide to band together to help other women in need. It sounds awesome and like it will be the perfect addition to the network’s already stellar lineup, which has managed to find a great balance between dark dramas and dramedy.
The series will be written and created by Audrey Wauchope and Rachel Spector who will also executive produce alongside Rodriguez. The two are very familiar with the network as they are currently writers and producers on The CW’s musical comedy Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Rodriguez also took to her twitter account to announce the news!
Another blessing for I CAN AND I WILL PRODUCTIONS! Even with the flu this next show puts a smile on my face! https://t.co/TmxNOXhA1U

The CW Unveils Its Fall Lineup
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
