‘Gotham’ Season Finale Will Reboot the Show

Hello, Gothamites, I’m here with exciting news about what is to come in the season finale of Gotham. This season alone has been one crazy roller coaster, but things are going to change drastically.

Comicbook.com had an exclusive interview with executive producer Danny Cannon. There, he told them that the season finale would be a complete reboot of the show we know. Here is what he said:

“Like I said, the catastrophic event, the cataclysmic event that happens in the last three episodes not only will change Gotham. It not only combines so many characters that you don’t think will cooperate with each other, but it changes the face of Gotham forever, so that season five, it’s almost a reboot and a different show.” – Danny Cannon (executive producer of Gotham)

Now, the word ‘reboot’ is scary, and it’s not something we want to hear when one of our favorite TV shows is going so well. However, the show has been just tha- going so well. I don’t see a reason to panic (yet). It will all come down to what we see in the season finale. Danny Cannon explained in the interview that all characters have reached a certain maturity in the show.

“Our characters have reached a maturity now; our characters are so well defined and that’s why I think as writers, that’s right about the point when you want to change people’s perception of them. The term ‘reboot’ means, just when you thought you knew people, something else would happen, and just when you thought your Season 5 would be like Season 4, Season 5 is completely different. New characters and old characters that have changed. It’s a complete [departure], and the city has changed too, new characters on a new landscape.” – Danny Cannon (executive producer of Gotham)

Whatever it is, Danny Cannon said it would be ‘the biggest cliffhanger‘ they’ve done. I’m guessing the season finale will make us scream.

In other news, Danny Cannon also confirmed that Jeremiah Valeska is taking Jerome’s place as the Joker. However, we were pretty surprised at his answer when he was asked about what Jeremiah’s role would be in the future.

“I don’t think so, no. This is an origin show about the beginnings of everything; therefore we just wanted to do the beginnings of why. When we first did the pilot, we were trying to create a world where someone like Batman would be necessary, and that’s what we’ve done these last four years. If you want to survive as a villain in Gotham, you’ve got to think big. We just wanted to really make an origin story of not just one character at a time, and how they got made, but why things get so out of hand in Gotham, and where criminality is going in Gotham. How far it can get, how bad it can get before someone dons that black suit, becomes a vigilante that will change the city forever.” – Danny Cannon (executive producer of Gotham)

That the fans are disappointed to hear that he will not be the Joker is an understatement. Despite the fact that we still don’t have a real Joker, it makes us thrilled to know that they have so many ideas for season 5. Even though season 5 is still not announced yet, executive producer Danny Cannon was very positive about the show continuing its adventure.

What do you think about all of this? Is this a wrong decision of Jeremiah, just being Jeremiah? After all, the Joker we know would NEVER copy the actions of someone in the past. Let us know what you think in the comment below.

Gotham airs on Thursday nights on FOX.
