‘Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3’ to Start Pre-Production “Very, Very Soon”

The Guardians of the Galaxy are just about ready to spring into action once more!

Film writer and director James Gunn has been hard at work, diligently drafting the third installment of the film series. Today, Gunn shared a picture of what appeared to be a finished copy of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 script. Gunn posted the photo to his social media pages with a simple caption which reads, “Every bit of my heart.

It’s a fitting caption for what we are sure is definitely a true labor of love. If you follow Gunn on social media, you are well aware of just how much these films mean to him, how much thought goes into each and every specific detail, and just how much of himself he puts into each filming decision.

So, now that we’ve seen what appears to be a finished script, does that mean the Guardians will be back to filming shortly? It does!

In a recent interview with Collider, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that things will be heating up in pre-production sooner than we think for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. In fact, the film is expected to begin filming early in 2019. Feige said:

[row]“[Writer/director] James [Gunn] has delivered a draft and we begin official pre-production on that very, very soon. It’ll be shooting early next year. Captain Marvel finishes in about two weeks, Spider-Man starts in about two weeks, and then Guardians 3 will start early next year.”[/row]

Of course, we won’t know anything relating to the film’s plot for quite some time (if we learn anything at all before the film hits theaters), but one can hope there are some fun times ahead for our favorite Guardian crew. After the uncertain ending of Avengers: Infinity War both Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista have confirmed they will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. It’s safe to say the rest of the crew will be there as well (we hope!). There may even be some surprises in store as Gunn recently met up with Star Wars legend Mark Hamill. The meeting came after a fan joked about Hamill needing to have a cameo in the next film. Perhaps we’ll see the Jedi Master show up somewhere in the galaxy at some point.
