‘Harry Potter: Wizards Unite’ Mobile Game Coming in 2019

There’s a brand new Harry Potter inspired augmented reality game coming in 2019 from Niantic, the makers of Pokemon Go. The Harry Potter version has been a long time coming since it was first announced in November of 2017, but finally, it’s happening!

On Wednesday, a teaser for the long-awaited game was released. It doesn’t show much in regards to what the game will actually look like, but it’s exciting nonetheless. Check out the teaser below.

In addition to the teaser, there’s also an informational site which has launched. The site allows those interested in learning more to sign up for updates and news on the app’s launch. The site also sets the tone for the game itself. It says:

[row]“The Ministry is looking for witches and wizards willing to roll up their sleeves and volunteer to save the wizarding world from the Calamity. As a member of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force (a new task force formed in partnership between the Ministry of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards) you will hone lightning fast wand reflexes, an ability to sniff out the faintest whiff of magical disorder from afar, and proficiency in advanced casting of multiple spells.

Please resist the urge to panic. Traces of magic are appearing across the Muggle world without warning and in a rather chaotic manner,” the site reads. “We worry it is only a matter of time before even the most incurious Muggles catch wind of it. We call on all witches and wizards to help contain the Calamity or risk the worst of times since You Know Who. Brush up on your spells, get your wand ready, and enlist immediately.”[/row]

An exact release date is not yet known, but the teaser and website indicate some time in 2019.
