HBO Reveals the Length of Each Episode in ‘Game of Thrones’ 8th and Final Season

With just under a month left to go before the premiere of Game of Thrones’ eighth and final season, HBO has finally released the estimated run-time for each of the last six episodes.

Up until this point, there have been many speculations and rumors surrounding the run-time for the final season with guesses ranging from regular episode length (about an hour) to some episodes potentially reaching feature film lengths. Those rumors can all be put to rest now that the episode duration has been released. While fans might be a little disappointed that each episode is not a 2-hour long feature film, the last three episodes of the season are super-sized and will, without a doubt, pack a punch for viewers.

In addition to the eighth and final season, HBO is currently developing a Game of Thrones spinoff. Starring Naomi Watts and written by Kingsman writer Jane Goldman, the prequel takes place thousands of years before Game of Thrones and “chronicles the world’s descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. Only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”

The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will premiere on April 14, 2019.
