Jesse Plemons Joins Keri Russell in Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Antlers’

Emmy-nominated actor Jesse Plemons will be joining Keri Russell in Antlers, a supernatural horror-thriller from director Scott Cooper and producer Guillermo del Toro. The film reunites Cooper and Plemons who worked together on last year’s Hostiles.  While Plemons’ role is still unknown, Antlers will follow Russell as “a teacher who takes an interest in a mysterious and withdrawn student. Only too late does she discover that the boy is harboring a deadly secret that is key to their town’s survival.”

Based on Nick Antosca’s short story “The Quiet Boy” Antlers will be adapted for the big screen by Antosca and Henry Chaisson with some additional revisions made by Cooper. Academy Award-winning director Guillermo del Toro will be producing the film along with his The Shape of Water partners David Goyer and Miles Dale.

Plemons had a breakout role on NBC’s Friday Night Lights as the lovable sidekick Landry and has since proven himself to be an applauded dramatic actor. He appeared on season 2 of FX’s Fargo as Ed Blumquist, a role which earned him his first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actors in a limited series. He then went to star in the “USS Callister” episode of Netflix’s anthology series Black Mirror for which he holds an Outstanding Lead Actor nomination at the upcoming Emmy Awards. Plemons has also guest-starred on AMC’s Breaking Bad and three episodes of Drunk History.

On the big screen, Plemons has appeared alongside Tom Hanks in 2015’s Bridge of Spies and again in last year’s The Post. He’s had roles in Tom Cruise’s American Made and had a scene-stealing role in this year’s comedy Game Night with Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams. Currently, he is filming Disney’s Jungle Cruise, the big screen reimagining of the theme park’s iconic ride with Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt and will soon be co-starring in the biopic crime drama The Irishman with some Hollywood greats such as Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.
