John Krasinski Couldn’t Stop Crying While Watching Emily Blunt in ‘Mary Poppins Returns’

If you have plans to go and see Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns when the movie hits theaters next month, do yourself a huge favor and bring a box of tissues along for the viewing. At least, that’s what The Office and A Quiet Place star John Krasinski would recommend moviegoers bring.

Krasinski recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly regarding the upcoming film starring Emily Blunt (who just so happens to also be his wife). The couple watched the movie together during an early preview of the film, and at one point, Krasinski says he had to excuse himself and walk to the back of the room. The reason why he had to take a break from the film will warm your heart!

Krasinski told EW:

[row]“Twenty-five minutes into the screening, which was just Emily and I, I stood up and walked to the back of the room,” he said before jokingly adding, “which of course immediately communicates nothing but love to your partner that you’re walking out of the room.”

He continued, “And she said, ‘Oh my god, you’ve never done that before, do you want me to stop the movie?’ And I was just in the back at the concessions table and I just said, ‘No, I’m looking for napkins,’ because I just needed anything to stop crying and to blow my nose because I had blown through an entire box of tissues in 25 minutes.”[/row]

He then said, jokingly, “So this movie is sponsored by Kleenex is what you’ve learned from this.”

Krasinski was also recently on Ellen where he told a similar account of his first viewing of the film. Check out that segment of his interview below.

In addition to Blunt, Mary Poppins Returns stars Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh,  Joel Dawson, Colin Firth, and Meryl Streep. The film will hit theaters on December 19th.
