Karlie Kloss and Christian Siriano to Host New ‘Project Runway’ Season

Last month, news broke that there were major shakeups happening over at the long-running series Project Runway. Three long-time stars of the series, Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, and Zac Posen announced they would not be returning for the upcoming new season.

Project Runway didn’t have to go far in order to find suitable replacements for the three fan-favorite stars. According to Variety, model Karlie Kloss will be taking over hosting responsibilities (aka. the new Heidi Klum) while designer and season four winner Christian Siriano will be joining the series as the mentor (aka. the new Tim Gunn).

Kloss beamed with excitement over her new role saying:

[row]“As someone who grew up watching Project Runway, I could not be more excited to host and produce a series that provides a platform to aspiring American designers as they pursue their creative and entrepreneurial dreams. I am equally as thrilled to work alongside an incredibly talented group of fashion innovators — Brandon Maxwell, Elaine Welteroth, Nina Garcia and Christian Siriano— to inspire, support and help guide these designers as they realize their visions and build everlasting brands and businesses.”[/row]

Siriano is no stranger to Project Runway. In addition to his season four win, he has also been back on the series as a guest judge, and he has also been a judge on Project Runway Junior. Siriano said:

[row]“Project Runway has offered such wonderful opportunities for so many, and I’m excited to take on this role as a mentor. I hope to guide and inspire the new talent on the rise.”[/row]

Shari Levine, exec VP of current production at Bravo spoke of the casting shuffle as a recalibration for the series. She said, “These are the perfect faces for the new ‘Project Runway,’ as we recalibrate for a new generation of fashion enthusiasts. They are entrepreneurs and trailblazers with tremendous reach inside and outside the fashion industry and give Bravo and our producing partners, Magical Elves and Lantern Entertainment, the right fuel to reenergize the franchise.”

In addition to Kloss and Siriano, Nina Garcia will be returning as a judge along with fashion designer Brandon Maxwell and journalist and former Teen Vogue editor-in-chief Elaine Welteroth.
