Legion “Chapter 13” Preview

Legion used “Chapter 12” to scale back the story of season two and gave us a deeply personal and emotional episode that revolved around the relationship between Syd and David. Up until this point, there wasn’t a great deal we knew about Syd, outside of conversations with David we hadn’t seen much of her backstory, and we left “Chapter 12” with a deeper understanding of what made the character tick. What we choose to do with this info is an entirely different story. I found that there were people who left the episode loving Syd even more and others who lost some trust in her especially concerning Future Syd. Noah Hawley makes sure that everything on Legion serves a purpose and we have to believe that the relationship between Syd and David is going to be a huge factor moving forward with this season.

Syd isn’t the only relationship David has been in on this show, and at the closing minutes of “Chapter 12” Lenny comes bursting in being escorted by Division III workers. This raises a number of questions for tonight. All season long Lenny has been looking for a way to escape her imprisonment with the Shadow King. She feels that she served him to the best of her ability and now wants to be free. She wants to find a new body and live life again. Who knows if that’s even possible, and if we’re taking the conclusion of last week’s episode into account, it doesn’t appear to be. Lenny is still in her Lenny body but has she found a way to separate herself from the Shadow King and Oliver?

One of my favorite aspects of Legion season one was Lenny. I thought Aubrey Plaza chewed up the scenery as the character and made for a compelling villain whose madness made her the break out star of Legion. Season two Lenny though has been on the sidelines a bit, and I’m anxious to see what “Chapter 13” has in store for the character. What could Lenny want now that she’s free of the Shadow King? Revenge or freedom? Is she even free or is this another ploy from Farouk to further weaken Division III?

And, whats up with the cow?!

What do you think Geeklings? Was Lenny actually able to free herself from Oliver and the Shadow King? Can she be trusted? What’s the deal with Future Syd, can we trust her? Is she still growing impatient? Sound off in the comments. If you’d like to talk more Legion you can find me on Twitter @iamgeek32. Enjoy tonight’s episode and see you all tomorrow with the review! Good luck navigating the maze!
