‘Marco Polo’ Alum Remy Hii Joins ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’

Spider-Man: Far From Home has added another mysterious character to its ranks. According to The Wrap, this time it’s Crazy Rich Asians star and Marco Polo alum Remy Hii. Far From Home will be the first Marvel film to hit theaters after the highly anticipated Avengers 4, so pretty much every detail surrounding it and Hii’s character are being kept under wraps.

Hii joins a huge new cast for the sequel including a rumored Jake Gyllenhaal who is expected to play notorious Spider-Man villain Mysterio, Numan Acar, J.B. Smoove, and Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders who will be reprising their roles as Nick Fury and Maria Hill. They all join a returning cast including Tom Holland, Zendaya,  Jacob Batalon, Michael Bolton, and Marisa Tomei.

The exact plot of Spider-Man: Far From Home is still a mystery, but we do know thanks to Kevin Feige and social media that Peter Parker will embark on some sort of globe-trotting adventure with his school chums.

[row]We film in London. We shot the first film in Atlanta. And we shoot a lot of films in London but there’s another reason we’re shooting in London which is, yes, Spidey, of course, will spend some time in New York, but he’ll spend some time in other parts of the globe” Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed to i09 earlier this year.[/row]

London certainly makes sense when you consider the title is Far From Home, which for Peter Parker is technically in New York, but according to Feige, there’s so much more to the title than just where it’s being filmed. Much like Homecoming, they chose the Far From Home for its multiple meanings.

[row]“Well, I mean, sure, let the speculation begin. That’s always fun. We like [the title] of course because it ties into Homecoming, not just keeping that word going, which we like and we liked it more than Homecoming 2, but that notion of ‘home’ is a word that has dual meanings we’d like to continue with this [Marvel Cinematic Universe] version of Spider-Man. So, Far From Home has multiple meanings,” he told CinemaBlend.[/row]

Hii had a recurring role on the Australian soap opera Neighbours, where he appeared in over 200 episodes from 2013-2014. He also had a starring role on Netflix’s original series Marco Polo as Prince Jingim and is currently appearing as a series regular on the ABC Australian series Harrow.  Hii can be seen this weekend when Warner Brothers’ Crazy Rich Asians hits theaters.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is swinging into theaters on July 5, 2019.
