Mariah Carey Speaks Out About New Year’s Eve Technical Mishap
2017 has been great so far, but there was one final victim of 2016’s wrath.
During the annual Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in New York, Mariah Carey was up to perform a few of her most popular songs. As she stepped on stage, it seemed the technical crew (or 2016) had different plans for her.
Basically her background track didn’t play, causing her to stop singing, and make sporadic comments to the audience while sort of dancing through the music.

“We didn’t have a [sound] check for this song, so we’ll just say it went to No. 1, and that’s what it is,” she said on stage during what should have been a performance of her song “Emotions”.
She has been a good sport about it, tweeting this out following the awkward situation.
Shit happens 😩 Have a happy and healthy new year everybody!🎉 Here’s to making more headlines in 2017 😂 pic.twitter.com/0Td8se57jr
